1.  THE RAINFOREST TOUR

San Jose – Tortuguero -  San Gerardo Dota – Manuel Antonio (10 days / 9 nights)

Day 01

At your arrival to San José you will be transferred to Hotel Bougainvillea or similar. Close to San Jose, but worlds away from city life, the Hotel Bougainvillea offers 80 tastefully decorated guest rooms, all with two full size beds, a comfortable sitting area, cable TV, direct dial telephone, and a full range of amenities that will make your stay a pleasurable one. Rooms have unique furniture made of Costa Rican hardwoods and terraces overlooking the beautiful landscaped gardens or San Jose and the Central Valley

Massive beamed ceilings and native Costa Rican wood paneling as well as a romantic fireplace, attribute to the warm feeling of a country inn.

 Day 02

Travel to Tortuguero National Park.

The day begins with an early morning departure to Limon, passing through the fabulous Braulio Carrillo National Park, to board our boat to Tortuguero. You will have a delicious Costa Rican breakfast on route. You will enjoy an exciting trip through the tropical rainforests lining the Tortuguero Canals arriving at our lodge in time for a late lunch.

After lunch you will visit the beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero. A deliciuous dinner will be served upon arrival.

The Caribbean accent of this rainforest is noticeable at the dining room and the gardens around the rooms, inviting the observer to immerse itself in the tropical paradise of the green sea turtle.

Day 03

This morning you will enjoy a three-hour tour of the Canals and hiking to the hill. Tortuguero National Park is the most important area in the Western Caribbean for the nesting grounds of the green sea turtle (Chelonia Midas), which can be seen from July to September. This region abounds with rich flora and fauna. Its several waterways allow all kinds of life to grow and develop in a Primary and Secondary Tropical Rain Forest.

Along the brackish and freshwater canals are captive forests, marsh woods, marshlands and tall and iroba and  trysil forests. You may see monkeys (spider, howler and white-faced capuchin), crocodiles, tree sloths and a host of colorful birds as you explore this dense rainforest.

After lunch you will have free time to explore the area's walking trails or relax at the lodge before taking another afternoon canal tour.

Day 04

After breakfast you will return by boat to Puerto Astua and then to San Jose and transfer to San Gerardo de Dota, which is in the heart of rainforest to Trogon Lodge. This is an all inclusive mountain hotel Located approximately 85 km southeast of San Jose, on a family farm in the mountains at 7,000 ft. altitude, with a fresh water river running through the property. The cozy and relaxing atmosphere of the Trogon Lodge makes every guest feel right at home. The beautiful surroundings provide a unique opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, as well as discover the wonders of Costa Rica's ecology.

Day 05

San Gerardo de Dota area is natural habitat for an immense diversity of flora and fauna.

You will enjoy in a cozy and relaxing atmosphere of the sights and sounds of nature.

This is a great area for bird watching.

Day 06

A shuttle from the hotel will transfer you to San Jose and from there to Manuel Antonio National Park area to Hotel El Parador, which is located on a densely-forested peninsula with a 360 degrees panorama of the ocean and jungle. El Parador offers a gourmet restaurant decorated with an impressive collection of antiques, that will take you beyond your imagination.

Day 07

After breakfast you will be met at the lobby at 7:30am by a local guide for your half day tour to Manuel Antonio National Park.

This park is a combination of rain forest, beaches and coral reefs. Its beaches are some of the most beautiful of Costa Rica. Throughout the park, you will find the famous wildlife our country is known for. It is home of monkeys, parrots, iguanas, land crabs and many other species.

Rest of the afternoon free.

Day 08

Travel back to San José.

Overnight at Hotel Bougainvillia

Day 10

Transfer to the airport and departure to your country
